This session will cover several key topics and concepts frequently encountered by clinicians managing the care of hospitalized patients undergoing surgery. Topics will include: general preoperative assessment and preparation, cardiac concerns, complication prevention, geriatrics and frailty considerations, complex medication management, VTE prophylaxis, and common complication management. Presenters will review relevant perioperative literature but also point out gaps in evidence and provide practical guidance on how to provide optimal care.
