This year's educational tracks.

Stay tuned for the complete 2027 track updates.

The Early-Career hospitalist track is designed for new hospitalists, resident physicians, and medical students interested in pursuing a career in hospital medicine. Included sessions focus on preparing and inspiring future hospitalist leaders with a mix of clinical and career planning topics.

These sessions will focus on health policy development and implementation, with highlights of federal legislative and regulatory programs and processes that impact hospital medicine. Sessions also focus on how all hospitalists can engage in advocacy efforts for their communities and their colleagues.

Content in this track covers current and emerging technologies in hospital medicine, featuring talks on how artificial intelligence is impacting the field by innovating care delivery, practice efficiency, patient safety, and provider and patient experience.

Current or aspiring leaders will find topics in this track related to the varied aspects of leading in the hospital.  These talks and workshops are full of practical tips to boost your leadership acumen. Sessions are highly engaging and delivered by hospital medicine leaders who are committed to developing future leaders and drive the specialty forward.

This track provides information about the cognitive processes used by clinicians to assess, diagnose, and treat patients. Sessions are focused on utilizing traditional and advanced approaches to achieve diagnostic excellence. The role of artificial intelligence in this space is also explored in this track.

This combined track is for hospitalists who have interest in academic medicine, teaching, research, and scholarship. Hospitalists in any setting interested in research or education, development of tools or techniques to improve their teaching and scholarship would benefit from attending sessions in this track. Sessions are typically delivered by expert faculty engaged in multifaceted faculty development and educating a diverse type of learner at a variety of levels.

NEW! The new Arts, Wellness, & Humanities track explores the intersection of hospital medicine and human experience. It uses storytelling, creative writing, visual arts, and ethics to help doctors prevent burnout, build empathy, and connect deeply with their patients, especially as we work to retain authenticity in our communication, as artificial intelligence incorporates into our workflow.  For Converge 2027, we have new sessions focused on “Taking humor seriously” and “Building a culture of kindness.” We are excited to host a workshop on narrative medicine and storytelling.

This track is designed for hospitalists committed to advancing healthcare value by delivering high-quality, evidence-based care while reducing unnecessary costs. Sessions will highlight practical strategies — from eliminating low-value practices to implementing shared quality improvement initiatives — that empower hospitalists to reduce waste, optimize resource use, and improve patient outcomes. Participants will gain tools to apply evidence-based medicine not only in individual practice but also across groups and facilities to meaningfully impact value and cost.

Expert clinicians and educators deliver evidence-based updates from the literature in topic areas relevant to hospitalists. These high-value and high-impact sessions provide information to hospitalists that they can apply immediately in clinical practice.

These sessions will address healthcare disparities and provide tools and strategies to foster inclusive excellence. Sessions will focus on both caring for diverse populations as well as equity and advocacy for hospitalists and their organizations.

Nurse practitioners and physician assistants are integral to hospital medicine, contributing to high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-centered care. This track will examine evidence-based approaches to NP/PA practice, including models of utilization, interprofessional collaboration, and strategies to optimize outcomes.

Hospitalists are optimally situated to provide palliative care to their patients. This track gives you tools to optimize your care of patients who would benefit from palliative care during or following their hospitalization.

Patients and their support systems are an important part of our care teams. This track provides strategies to improve the experience of patients/caregivers and communicate effectively across the care team.

The Pediatric track offers a variety of clinical and systems-based topics. This track will feature sessions including clinical topics as well as Things We Do for No Reason and Updates (Top 10 Articles) in topics important to those caring for children.

These sessions provide learners with evidence-based practices in perioperative medicine, focusing on preoperative risk assessment and optimization as well as postoperative management strategies, delivered by leading experts in the field. At Converge 2027, the track augments the Perioperative Medicine Pre-course.

The unique Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) track is designed to provide cutting-edge educational content on POCUS use by adult and pediatric hospitalists, regardless of current skill level. Didactics and workshops will be delivered by national and international POCUS experts.  The content will encompass both diagnostic and procedural POCUS applications, and faculty will guide you through engaging presentations to help you build your diagnostic acumen and technical skills.

The importance of organizational infrastructure related to the practice of hospital medicine is well recognized, and information in this area continues to accumulate. System and organization-driven metrics are discussed in this track, and sessions describe methods to optimize your hospital medicine group’s practice and performance.

Given the importance of quality and patient safety in the delivery of healthcare, the Quality track is offered to address the imperatives around development and implementation of improvement efforts in the hospital. Sessions address system-wide and hospitalist-driven efforts, and the impact of AI is discussed.

Featuring something for everyone, these are extended length sessions (90 minutes) held in smaller round-table settings for attendees to engage in a more interactive learning environment. Workshops span a breadth of areas and are more focused on skill building in group settings with interactive exercises driven by faculty who are experts and leaders in those skill areas.

Hospitalists are expanding their clinical expertise beyond traditional inpatient settings to deliver comprehensive care across the continuum. These sessions will equip attendees with evidence-based strategies for implementing, optimizing, and sustaining hospital-at-home programs and post-acute care transitions.
